I have had a long career in Theatre and Drama Education, working initially as an actor, director and then as arts educator. I spent 15 years, until 2021, as Director of Learning and Participation and then Learning Associate at the Unicorn Theatre, working with children and young people in creative projects and programmes in schools and community settings. I also designed Drama and Theatre materials for teachers to use in their classrooms and have run training for over a thousand teachers in these approaches.
Creative Arts pedagogy and Feldenkrais Method share many principles, a key reason why I was drawn to train as a Feldenkrais teacher – prioritising agency and empowering participants in a creative, exploratory and open process of learning. I now work part-time as Education Programme Manager at Ministry of Stories, a creative writing charity based in Hackney.
I first encountered Feldenkrais in a Theatre workshop in the 1990s and was impressed by the intuitive, creative and energising nature of the session.
Years later, when suffering from back pain that led to numerous visits to an osteopath, I sought out Feldenkrais again. I wanted something that looked to long term improvement rather than crisis management. The weekly lessons I attended transformed the way I thought and felt about maintaining mobility and ease of movement going forward.
I trained on the London 4 training with Scott Clark and Elizabeth Beringer (Educational Directors) along with Shelagh O’Neil and Ryan Jansen and many guest trainers from the UK and International Feldenkrais community.
I qualified to teach ATM in 2022 and have since been teaching group lessons in West and East Dulwich.
In 2024 I completed my training in Functional Integration.
I am a member of the Feldenkrais Guild UK, the professional organisation responsible for maintaining standards of practise, and I fully subscribe to their Code of Ethics and requirement for professional insurance.
